Palau M.A.P.S. Blue Carbon Economy Project - Indoor Smart Farming
核心問題
- 1 Palau possesses abundant marine resources; however, due to prolonged overfishing, coastal fisheries resources are gradually diminishing. To protect the marine ecosystem, the Palauan government enacted the "Palau National Marine Sanctuary Act" (PNMS Act) in 2020.
- 2 This designates 80% of the jurisdictional waters as marine protected areas, restricting fishing activities. The remaining 20% is allocated as domestic fishing zones, serving only domestic fish demand and limited commercial fishing.
- 3 Given the relative scarcity of local aquaculture, the Palauan government actively promotes aquaculture to expand seafood production and alleviate excessive reliance on natural resources.
創新行動
-
1/ M.A.P.S. represents a Nature- based Solution (NbS) addressing climate change while striving for ecological sustainability and economic balance. It integrates mangroves, AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things) technology, solar power (Photovoltaic, PV), and shrimp farming.
-
2/ Through smart aquaculture, it enhances production efficiency, increases stability, and reduces water resource wastage, providing reliable local seafood. Nutrient-rich salts produced during aquaculture are used to fertilize mangroves, promoting growth, increasing carbon sequestration, supporting tidal ecosystems, aiding species reproduction, and preventing soil erosion, thereby mitigating the impact of rising sea levels.
-
3/ Additionally, plans include offering carbon credits to businesses, contributing to local communities, fostering an eco-friendly collaborative approach. Collaborating with energy companies, constructing rooftop photovoltaic power facilities in aquaculture zones generates clean energy, achieving self-sufficiency in energy supply or providing stored power. This resolves challenges related to power supply and dependence on imported energy.

團隊介紹
ID Water is an agricultural climate technology company focused on the integration of smart aquaculture and smart forestry. We dedicated to creating environmentally friendly, food-safe, and technologically advanced smart farming solutions. Through the independent development of the world's first integrated system comprising water quality monitoring, AI data analysis, and IoT automation equipment, combined with a solar-powered photovoltaic system, we achieves over 20 years of stable aquaculture. Additionally, the wastewater generated by our smart shrimp farming facilities is reused for mangrove fertilization,, enhancing carbon sequestration capabilities.
